Sokoto Diocese of CYON elects New Executives

​Following the diocesan elections of the Catholic Youth Organisation of Nigeria (CYON), Sokoto Diocese, which took place after their General Meeting on Friday night through to the early hours on Saturday in Gusau, Zamfara state, saw Abel Joseph Idebe of the Katsina deanery emerge as the President of the Diocesan CYON organisation. The election which was keenly contested with Mr. Ifeanyi Obiajulu, the outgoing VP, of  the Gusau deanery was peaceful with Mr. Abel Joseph Idebe winning with a landslide margin of 56 to 16 of total votes cast by delegates across the diocese. 

Other Exco members that emerge from the elections include:

VP- Aduma Oko Aduma (sokoto Deanery)

Sec. Gen. – Saminu Machu (Malumfashi deanery)

Asst. Sec.- Miss Emmanuela Ekechi (Kebbi Deanery)

Fin. Sec – Mr. Everistus Okolo (Sokoto deanery)

P.R.O.1- Mr. Chikezie Polycarp (Sokoto Deanery)

P.R.O.2 – Mr. Promise Aminam (Gusau Deanery)

Welfare Director – Miss Jesicca Nnamanni (Kebbi Deanery)

D.O.S – Mr. Matthew Kann (Katsina deanery). The President-elect is also the coordinating chairman of the Kukah Unity Cup, a Football program organized to foster unity among the Christian and Muslim Youths . 

Sokoto diocese is the largest in Sub-Saharan Africa and it comprises the four states of Sokoto, Katsina, Zamfara and Kebbi.
