Arsenal completes Kelechi Nwakali signing, five-year deal agreed

Arsenal have completed the signing of ASJ/Diamond Academy midfielder Kelechi Nwakali.

The 18-year-old Nigerian sensation has been heavily linked with a move to the Gunners for around £3m this summer and despite talks being dragged out, a deal has been completed and an announcement will be imminently made.

Nwakali was first spotted by Arsenal scouts during last year’s under-17 World Cup, where the teenager lit it up with his performances and was named Player of the Tournament along the way to their triumph.

Speaking after the player signed a five-year deal and completed his medical, CEO of the ASJ/Diamond Academy Emeka Amajiriaku confirmed that the move had gone through.

“Kelechi has signed with Arsenal, it is now a done deal. He signed the contract 3 pm today (Wednesday).

“His mother and brother Allwell were there. Manchester City loanee Chidiebere Nwakali came all the way from Norway to London to witness his brother signing the contract. ”

It’s expected that Nwakali will have to work his way into the first-team by featuring regularly for the under-23s, at just 18-years-old he is nothing more than an exciting prospect for the north London side to consider.
