Factional National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP), Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, on Tuesday, insisted that Hon. Matthew Iduoriyekemwen remains the party ’s governorship candidate for the September 10 governorship election in Edo State .This is even as he met with the reconciliation committee constituted by the Board of Trustees (BoT ) to reconcile aggrieved members of the party.
The committee, headed by former Minister of Information, Professor Jerry Gana, met with the factional chairman at his office in Maitama district of Abuja.
Sheriff, who spoke when he hosted a delegation of Edo women from Edo State who came to thank him for choosing Mrs . Herberta Okonufua as governorship running mate , noted that an Abuja Division of the Federal High Court had ruled that he is the only one who will submit governorship candidate ’s name to the Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC ) for Edo and Ondo states.
“ The court also said that starting from the date of the last Convention , May 21 in Port Harcourt , any document signed by (Senator Ahmed) Makarfi is illegal, null and void . So I don’ t know why they are deceiving Nigerians,” he wondered.
